Noah Collins, age 85, of Alvin, Texas, formerly of Alliance, passed away Wednesday, February 5, 2014, at Clear Lake Regional Medical Center in Webster, Texas.
He was born March 20, 1928, in Ironton, Ohio, to Thomas and Doris D. (Fraley) Collins and was a resident of Alvin, Texas for 32 years.
Noah was employed by the former Gem Clay Company in Sebring, Alliance Ware Company, Babcock and Wilcox Tube Division and Volcanic Heaters, all in Alliance, and retired in 1995, from Coastal Towing Company in Houston, Texas.
He served as a fire fighter and Fire Chief with the Lexington Township Volunteer Fire Department where he was a co-founder of the Volunteer Fire Department.
Noah enjoyed spending time with his family, especially with his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Survivors include his loving wife of 67 years, Bernadine M. (Oliver) Collins of Texas; daughter, Gloria Lane of Alliance; sons, Dale (Debbie) Collins and Davy (Pat) Collins, both of Alliance and James (Lucille) Collins of Texas; sister, Josephine (Jim) Leber; brother Edgil (Bea) Collins, and Ben Collins; 16 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren and many other nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Bruce Collins; and sisters, Frances, Enos, Arty and Caroline.
Services will be held at 8 p.m. Thursday, February 13, 2014 at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Pastor Jeff Caldwell officiating. Friends may call two hours prior to the service. Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lexington Township Volunteer Fire Dept., 14555 Gaskill Dr. NE, Alliance, OH, 44601 or the charity of the donor's choice.
