In loving memory of Nona Lea Fish King.
Mom was born March 28, 1936 in Ravenna, Ohio, to Harold Glenn Fish and Dorothy Mae Able.
Mom passed away August 30, 2013 of congestive heart failure. Mom will be missed by her brother, Glenn Fish; sister, Sandy Frayer; three daughters, Denise (Steve) Mellen, Laura (Milo) Hughes, Joyce King and their families. Mom had ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, which brought much joy to her life.
Mom married the love of her life, Wayne P. King, March 24, 1956, and enjoyed 51 wonderful years together.
Mom always loved people and enjoyed serving others. She chose Nursing as a profession. After graduating from Cleveland Metro General School of Nursing, she worked as a registered nurse at Alliance City Hospital for many years. She then worked at nursing homes until she was injured by a patient. Still wanting to be a nurse, she taught nursing at Bohecker's in Ravenna, Ohio. It was during that time that she also got her Bachelor's degree through St. Joseph's College of Maine.
After retiring, they continued to stay in Alliance near their daughter, Joyce. She and Dad delivered Meals on Wheels to the community. They served in the Columbus Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They were always looking for opportunities to help others. Eventually Mom was told that health-wise it would be better to have a warm dry climate for her health. They then moved to St. George, Utah in 2007, to be closer to her daughter, Laura. Dad died shortly after arriving in St. George.
After 3 years in St. George, she moved to Magna, Utah to live with her daughter, Denise. During the last few years, mom's health began to fail. She was always in pain, fighting one medical problem after another. But she always had a kind word for others and still looked for ways to bless the lives of others.
Mom was very creative and crafty. She enjoyed reading, gardening, crocheting, sewing, painting, collecting porcelain dolls, and being with family. She was active in her church, and she had a great faith in her Savior Jesus Christ. We believe she is now again with her husband and parents in a better life, free from the sorrows and pains of this life.
Thank you, Mom, for the example you set for a good and righteous life.
We send a special thanks to all the staff at Hunter Hollow for their loving care of our Mom these past three months. She was happy and felt safe there. She appreciated your thoughtfulness, good care, and friendship!
