Norman P. “Punch” Barnes, age 90, passed away on April 3, 2023 in Alabama.
He was born on December 12, 1932, in Alliance, to Earl and Breta (Snyder) Barnes.
Norman graduated from Alliance High School in 1951. He worked as a plaster/drywaller with his father-in-law, Homer House, before beginning his 30 year career as a welder for Alliance Machine. Norman retired in 1997.
Norman served honorably in the United States Navy and previously attended Southside Church of God. He enjoyed puzzles including, crosswords, Sudoku and jigsaw puzzles. He also liked to play golf and spend time in his yard working and feeding birds. Norman was a gentle and quiet soul who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Suzanne (Steve) Daniewicz; two granddaughters, Carly and Katelyn Daniewicz; and several special nieces and nephews with thankful appreciation to niece, Lori House.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie (House) whom he married on November 17, 1956; his brother, Walter “Bud” Barnes; and his sisters, Earline Bradway, Josephine Kennedy; and Mildred Coss.
A funeral service will be held at Marlboro Cemetery Chapel on April 15, 2023 at 11:00 a.m.
