Norman R. Freed, age 83 of Alliance, died at 8:10 p.m. October 19, 2004 at Mercy Medical Center.
He was born August 26, 1921 in Alliance, Ohio to Guy and Ada (Slagle) Freed and was a lifelong area resident.
Mr. Freed retired as a Sales Engineer from Alliance Machine Company.
He was a member of First Immanuel United Church of Christ.
He was also a member of Elks BPOE #467, Swinging Sixties and American Legion. He enjoyed golf, bridge and bowling.
Mr. Freed was a W.W.II U.S. Navy Air Corp veteran.
Survivors include his wife Norma V. (Pettibon) Freed, whom he married in 1946, three sons, James (Rosemary) Freed of Texas, Thomas (Karen) Freed of Cleveland, and Guy (Luann) Freed of Stow; six grandchildren Kathleen (John) Gwilliams, Elizabeth, Thomas Jr., Craig, Sarah and Nikki, and one sister Ruth Ann Brown.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers Bruce and Paul.
Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Pastor Neal Mann officiating. Friends may call from 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday. Interment will be at Fairmount Memorial Park.
