Norman R. Mullen passed away at home on Sunday, May 14, 2023 after an extended illness. Norm was born on May 6, 1949 in Bakersfield, California. He was a former marine serving his country in the Vietnam War from 1966 – 1970. On his return home from the war, Norm followed his passion and became an over-the-road long haul truck driver for over 45 years. In addition, he raced stock cars and was a horse jockey for a local race horse stable. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, hunting and many other outdoor recreational activities. Much to his daughter’s dismay, Norm was a loyal fan of the Cleveland Browns. Norm enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and watching them grow as sports fanatics themselves. Norm will be remembered as a selfless individual who was always willing to lend a hand to others in need.
Norm was preceded in death by his adoptive parents Robert M. Mullen and Irene G. Mullen. He is survived by his spouse, Daunett Mullen; former spouse, Barbara Mullen and their daughter Alverta Mullen; daughters, Vickie Crabb and Marsha Mullen; and sons, Norman Mullen, Jr, and Timothy Mullen. Norm is also survived by 18 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Cremation has taken place at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral and Cremation Service in Alliance, OH. At Norm’s request, there will be no visitation or public arrangements. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Interment will take place at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Seville, OH.
