Northern "Buddy" Binion, age 75, of Alliance, passed away at 8:05 a.m. Thursday, March 31, 2011, at Alliance Community Hospital.
He was born October 18, 1935, in Olive Hill, KY, to George and Maude (Carroll) Binion.
Buddy was employed with American Steel as a forklift operator and formerly worked for the railroad as a lefthand spiker. He enjoyed gardening and camping. He was a very generous man whose greatest enjoyment was sharing his garden and spending time with family, especially his grandchildren.
Buddy was United States Navy veteran having served as a gunner's mate.
Survivors include his son, Cove A. (Denise) Binion of Stafford, VA; daughter, Cayla J. (Rick) Simpson of Homeworth; six grandchildren, Gretchen (Jason) Carroll, Brittany Binion, Rebekah Binion, Patrick Binion, Bobby Simpson and Malinda Simpson; one great-granddaughter, Jocelynn Carroll; several nieces and nephews including niece, Wanda Mosier.
Northern was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Janis M. (Savage) Binion whom he married July 11, 1959 and who died January 9, 1996; son, Norman Lee; sister, Ruby Swiger.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, April 4, 2011, at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home. Friends may call from 2-4 p.m. Sunday. Interment will be at Union Cemetery in Louisville.
