Orm J. Smith

Orm J. “Smitty” Smith, age 78, passed away on September 8, 2023.

He was born on April 24, 1945, in Alliance, to Ormond and Irene (Lare) Smith.

He graduated from Marlington High School in 1963. Orm worked for Transue and Williams until his retirement.

Orm’s love for nature included fishing, hunting, gardening and setting up several Purple Martin houses yearly. He was an avid Broncos, Packers and Cleveland INDIANS fan. More than anything, Orm cherished spending time with his beautiful wife, children and grandchildren. He especially loved to play card games with the family.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Patsy (Clapsaddle) Smith; three daughters, Bonnie (Marty) Holmes, Tammy Partin, and Dede (Dennis) Betz; son, Jeff Lowers; sister, Judith (John) Mann; eleven grandchildren, Brandon, Justin, Christopher, Alec, Bethany, Evan, Alyssa, Hailee, Corbyn, Jackson and Kinsey; four great-grandchildren; and brother-in-law, Bob Brahler.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Steve Lowers; sisters, Jane Brahler and Glenna Smith; and brother, Jimmy Smith.

“Although your adventures on earth may be done, we’ll cherish our family time of playing cards, games, and watching football for fun, You may be gone, but you will never be forgotten. Even though we are far apart, we’ll treasure our memories and carry them in our hearts.”

A private celebration of life will be held as a later date.
