Oscar A. Hoffman, age 97, of Homeworth, Ohio, died at 12:20 a.m. Thursday, May 3, 2007 at Crandall Health and Rehabilitation Center in Sebring.
Oscar was born October 18, 1909 in New Franklin, Ohio to Terry and Mabel (Hoyle) Hoffman and was a lifetime resident of the vicinity.
He attended Marlboro Schools and was employed at American Steel Foundry for 40 years as a pipe fitter. He was a member of the Bethel United Church of Christ in Beloit, Homeworth Masonic Lodge #499 F and AM for over 50 years, Eastern Star Chapter 553 in Homeworth and a member of the Mile Branch Grange for 50 years. He loved spending his winters in Lakeland, Fla.
Survivors include his daughter Darlene (John) Bradley of Homeworth; son, Roger (Joann) Hoffman of Anacortes, Washington; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Helen L. (Warren) Hoffman who he married September 20, 1930 and whom died October 13, 1996 and a sister, Vera Walker.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Rev. Jeffrey Davis of Bethel United Church of Christ officiating. Friends may call 1 hour prior to the service.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the Bethel United Church of Christ Memorial Fund, 25701 Buck Rd. Beloit, Ohio 44609.
Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park.
