Parma Jean (Soviero) Carretta, age 95, of Alliance, died at 9:15 a.m. Tuesday, January 31, 2012, at Salem Community Hospital.
She was born June 17, 1916, in Alliance. She was a 1935 graduate of Alliance High School and employed as an educational supervisor for Singer Sewing Company prior to her marriage. She worked with her husband, Ernest, at the former Fiesta Bar and Coral Lounge.
Parma was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Alliance. She was a devoted wife and mother, who loved poetry, sunsets and fall leaves.
Survivors include her daughter, Ede Carretta of Alliance; sister, Sue LaTuchie of Akron; two grandsons, Brandon Carretta of Charleston, SC and Eric Carretta of Fairborn, Oh.; and many nieces.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest V. Carretta, whom she married May 17, 1943, and who died July 11, 1998; son, E. Craig Carretta; one brother; and three sisters.
A private graveside service will be held Friday, February 3, 2012, at St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery in Alliance.
