Patty Jo (Vargo) Ellis, age 68, of Alliance, passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 23, 2022.
She was born on June 18, 1953 in Alliance to Joseph D. Vargo and Patricia A. (Koons) Vargo.
Patty Jo graduated from Alliance High School in 1967 and was a bartender for Jerry’s Tavern, Bill’s Tavern and the Town Tavern. She had a deep faith in Catholicism. Patty Jo was an artist who wrote poetry, knitted, did woodworking, and made furniture and clothes for her collection of dolls. She also enjoyed fishing and gardening and was known for her annual “Hippie Fest”. Patty Jo loved casinos, gambling with her friend Linda and visiting family in Las Vegas.
Those left to cherish her memory are her sons, Chris (Tara) Vargo and Ronald (Lisa) Hawkins; four grandchildren, Matt Harvey, Melanie Vargo, Cassidy Vargo and Mckayla McFredrick; one great-grandson, Kane Harvey; two sisters, Sandy (Ken) Baker and Valerie (Warren) Henry; three nieces; her devoted companion, Jeff Morrison; and her beloved dog, Ziggy.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Barry D. Ellis whom she married August 26, 2000 and who passed December 4, 2006.
Services will be held at Noon Friday, January 28, 2022 at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Pastor Freddie Rodriguez officiating.
Friends may call the hour prior to the service.
Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park.
