Paul E. Cox, age 91, of Alliance, died at 2:45 p.m. Friday, November 21, 2008 at McCrea Manor.
He was born August 29, 1917 in Masury, OH to Jesse Ligo and Mayme A. (Gable) Cox and lived in Alliance since 1945.
Paul attended Memorial High School in Campbell, OH and retired from Morgan Engineering on December 31, 1979.
He was a U.S. Army Veteran, having served during WWII in Hawaii, near Pearl Harbor.
Paul was a member of Union Avenue United Methodist Church, Morgan Retirees Club, VFW Post #673 member, and a 68 year member of McKinley Oddfellows Lodge #923.
Survivors include his son, P. Jerry (Diana) Cox of Louisville; his daughter, Sandra M. Steed of Alliance; three grandchildren, Jeffery Steed (Amanda Blind) of Canton, Carol (Rick) Wheeler of Louisville and Kimberly (Brian) Weick of Wadsworth; and 2 great-grandchildren, Evan M. and Kaelyn M. Steed, both of Canton.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Nora Lee (Keene) Cox, whom he married July 14, 1945 and who died July 4, 1998; four brothers, Charles, Frank, George and Thayer; and two sisters, Julia Stoll and Irene Crawford.
Services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Rev. Susan Bowman officiating. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday. An Oddfellows Service will be held at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday. Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park.
