Paul G. Messenheimer, age 76, of Alliance, passed away at 7:20 a.m. Sunday, August 23, 2009 at McCrea Manor, after a short illness.
He was born February 20, 1933 in Alliance, to Thomas G. and Ellen (Aebi) Messenheimer.
Paul was employed as a journeyman die sinker at Transue and William for 42 years. He was a member of the First Immanuel United Church of Christ, volunteered at the library, was involved with the Alliance Memory Project, and enjoyed wood working.
A sergeant in the United States Air Force, he served our country from 1952 to 1956.
Survivors include his three children, Thomas (Korey) Messenheimer of Plantation, Florida, Pamela Messenheimer Biggs of Saraland, Alabama and Trinka Messenheimer (Stanley Young) of Bloomville, Ohio; his sister, Mary Wearstler; five grandchildren, Rebecca Biggs (Jeremy) Christian of Saraland, Alabama, Rachel Biggs (Robert) Patton of Mobile, Alabama, Broede Young (Dave) Armstrong of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Jack Young of Tiffin, Ohio and Morgan Messenheimer of Plantation, Florida; two great-grandchildren, Amelia and Isabella Patton of Mobile, Alabama; and seven nieces and nephews.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Erie Messenheimer who passed away September 7, 2008.
In accordance with Paul's wishes, there will not be a memorial service.
The family suggests memorial contributions be sent to Mended Hearts, Chapter No. 33, attention: Marshall Scaia, 634 E. College St., Alliance, Ohio 44601, which will provide support for the Children's Heart Camp.
The family would like to thank the Alliance Visiting Nurse Association and Hospice for all of their caring support and assistance.
