Paul J. Snider, age 95, of Alliance, entered into eternal rest on May 9, 2013.
Mr. Snider was born October 8, 1917 in Alliance to Jacob E. and Goldie Mae (McClure) Snider.
He dropped out of school at an early age to work the farm but earned a degree in life's experiences that was equivelent to a PHD. After working the farm, he worked at the Hartville Celery Farm eventually ending up at Babcox and Wilcox Tubular Division becoming an accomplished welder and an inspector.
During WWII, because of his welding abilities he was deferred from the military to work on welding gun turrents for the war effort. He retired from B&W after 37 years in 1978 and was a member of the United Steelworkers Union.
Mr. Snider has spent the past 35 years with a multitude of activities including gardening, trapping furbearers, traveling, raising grandchildren and fishing. He has been an accomplished fisherman all his life and has passed his love and skills of the sport on to his entire family. He was still fishing with his sons in Arkansas up unto the age of 93.
He will be greatly missed by his sons, daughter and grandchildren as well as all his buddies from B&W whom he loved so much.
He is survived by his three children and their spouses; Ronald (Mary) Snider of Jacksonville, Ark, Dennis (Gloria) Snider of Alliance and Bonnie (Snider) Truett of North Canton; grandchildren, Michael (Emma)
Snider of San Francisco, CA; Angela, Matthew and Michele Truett; Brandon Snider, Mark Tasker, and Dante and Jasia Roy from Jacksonville, Arkansas; great grandchildren, Isabella and Tallulah from Australia, Dylan Tasker and Gabriel Paul Snider, the latest edition to the Snider family (son of Michael and Emma Snider) and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 61 years Dorothy and his brother Raymond.
Special thanks to caregivers Sue Ciotti, Penny Nezbeth, Pat Caserta and granddaughter Michelle (Shelly) Truett who have provided excellent home care for Paul this last year and also to the Alliance Visiting Nurse Association and Hospice.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
