Paul Sullivan, age 62, of Alliance passed away peacefully Saturday, August 9, 2014, at his home with his family and friends by his side. He was beloved. He was diagnosed 18 months earlier with esophageal cancer, which he fought bravely, with serenity and without complaint.
He was born February 8, 1952, in Syracuse, New York, to Edward Sullivan and Betsy (Surrey) Krier.
Paul grew up in Oak Park, Illinois and graduated from Oak Park and River Forest High School in 1970. After earning an accounting degree from Indiana University, he worked for Amsted Industries in Chicago. In the late 1970's, he transferred to American Steel Foundries in Alliance as works controller. In 1983, he left American Steel to become a partner at Quality Oil and Gas Corp. He then became founder and owner of Greenfield Properties and Hometown Carpet and Flooring on South Arch Avenue in Alliance.
He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church in Canton. He was very active in the recovery community.
Survivors include his wife of 22 years, Lynn Cameron Sullivan; daughter, Erin (David) Daniels; granddaughter, Sarah Daniels; sisters, Sue Anne (Dennis Erwood) Sullivan and Tami Kay (Mark) Schlickman; stepfather, Richard Krier; stepmother, Penelope Egerter; stepsiblings, Alexia (David) Durocher, John (Theresa) Rigas, Diana (Wilson Troup) Rigas, Theodore (Connie) Rigas, Jr.; half-brother, Tom (Kathleen) Sullivan, many nieces and nephews, close friends he considered family and Golden Retriever, Chloe.
He was preceded in death by his parents and beloved stepfather Robert Egerter.
Services will be held at 1 p.m., August 14, 2014 at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Fr. Edward L. Beneleit officiating. Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
