Pearl Viola Barker, of Alliance, loving and devoted wife and mother, died Monday, October 12, 2015, at her home following an extended illness. She was born February 15, 1931, in Alliance to George F. Linaburg and Addie Pearl (Farris) Linaburg. Pearl was educated in the Alliance City School System. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Alliance and retired from Alliance Manufacturing Company. Pearl was a compassionate caregiver, an avid reader, an accomplished cook and seamstress. She had a passion for flowers, and her flower gardens are a joy to her family and friends. Mrs. Barker is survived by her husband of 68 years, Virgil L. Barker; son, Craig M. Barker; two daughters, Lorra (Georg) Hambach of Lambertville, New Jersey, and Candice (Russel) West of Shoreline, Washington; three sisters, Helen Donahoe of Grandview, Texas, Emma Thomas of Miami, Florida, and Nancy Sylvester of Alliance; brother, James Linaburg of Terry, Montana; four stepgrandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; and many loving nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents; four sisters, Rose Caserta, Ruth Lacher, Francis (Sue) Burgess and Ida Villars; and infant brother, George Linaburg. Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m., Monday, October 19, 2015, at First Baptist Church of Alliance. Services will begin at 11 a.m. with Pastor Steve Rhodes officiating and burial immediately following at Highland Memorial Park. Arrangements are by Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home.
