Peter Tapyrik

January 19, 1954 — May 22, 2024

Peter Tapyrik, LSW, a devoted husband, loving father, cherished brother, uncle, and esteemed administrative licensed social worker, passed away peacefully on May 22, 2024, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. He was surrounded by his entire family and enveloped in their love as he left this world far too young.

Peter spent his life dedicated to helping others. As a licensed social worker, he touched the lives of countless individuals with his care, compassion, and unwavering support often changing the entire trajectory of their lives. His profound impact on his community will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Peter was an avid outdoorsman who found great joy in hiking and exploring nature. He often spent his free time on trails, finding peace and solace in the beauty of the great outdoors. This passion for nature reflected his adventurous spirit and his appreciation for life's simple pleasures.

Peter's greatest joy in life was his daughter, Hannah.  He was immensely proud to watch her graduate from the University of Vermont with the highest Latin honors just days before his passing.  That moment brought him tremendous pride and happiness, a testament to his enduring love and support for his family.

Peter was a devoted husband to his wife, Shirene, and a loving father to their daughter, Hannah. His family was his world, and he cherished every moment spent with them. As a brother, he was supportive and kind, always ready with a listening ear and a comforting word to his sister, Paula and brother, Nick. As an uncle, he enjoyed teaching through example.  In addition to Shirene and Hannah, survivors include brother, Nick (Nancy) Tapyrik; sister, Paula (Robert) Yuskavage; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, Nicholas Tapyrik and his mother, Anna Fedorchak Tapyrik.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Aultman Woman's Board Compassionate Care Center. Their exceptional care and support allowed Peter to pass with dignity and peace, surrounded by those he loved most and in an environment that had a plethora of wildlife outside his patio door to watch from his bed.

Peter’s legacy of compassion, kindness, and love will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all those he touched throughout his life. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered.

A Christian Orthodox funeral service will be held on June 8, 2024, at 12:00 PM at Holy Ghost Orthodox Church, Ambridge, PA. Archpriest V Rev. William J. Evansky officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Peter's memory to Alliance for Children & Families, Inc. 624 Scranton Ave, Alliance, OH 44601, to continue to provide support for those less fortunate, or Aultman Woman’s Board Compassionate Care Center, 2821 Woodlawn Ave., NW, Canton, OH 44708, so others can enjoy the same environment at the end of their lives.
