Phillip Alan Geisse, age 74, of Alliance, passed away at 7:20 p.m., Friday, January 23, 2015, at Aultman Hospital.
He was born October 17, 1940, in Alliance, to Phil and Mary (Griffith) Geisse and has been a lifelong resident.
Phil was a 1958 graduate of Alliance High School and was a steelworker for J & L Speciality Products until his retirement after 42 years of service.
A member of Concorde and the Hall of Fame Luncheon Club, Phil was a dedicated, true and loyal Browns Fan. He also enjoyed watching Purple Raiders football and all of Cleveland sports teams.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Linda (Barnhill) Geisse; daughters, Lora Geisse Oyster of Canton and Lee Geisse (Dan Hildman) of Canton; grandchildren, Jacob, Daniel and Mary Oyster; sister-in-law, Lana (Jack) Sweet of Columbania; and many cousins and wonderful friends who miss Phil terribly.
A big man with an even bigger heart left us on Friday evening. His sudden illness was treated with compassion and care by the wonderful Aultman Woodlawn staff. His courage and optimism will continue to give his family and friends strength.
He was preceded in death by his parents and mother-in-law Mary Jane and Walter Schott.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home. Friends may call from 5-7 p.m. Monday January 26, 2015 at the funeral home.
Interment will be at Atwater Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Mary Oyster College Education Fund at Buckeye State Credit Union, 1010 W. State St., Alliance, OH 44601.
