Phyllis L. (Armstrong) Springer, age 85, of Alliance, passed away at 10:25 a.m., Tuesday, February 3, 2015, at Bel-Air Care Center.
She was born April 18, 1929, in Martin's Ferry, Ohio, to James T. and Neva E. (Moore) Armstrong.
Phyllis was a 1947 graduate of Wheeling High School and attended Akron University for two years. She was employed at J.C. Penney for eleven years and as a secretary at Transue & Williams, retiring in 1994.
She was a member of First Christian Church, Alliance Senior Center and AARP. She enjoyed dancing and traveling.
Survivors include her daughter, Sheila S. (Daniel) Gard of Alliance; sons, Edward L. (Monetta) Springer of Canton and Thomas J. Springer of Alliance; three granddaughters, Rebecca Gard, Jessica Gard and Julia Springer; brothers, John Belleville Jr. and Gerald L. Belleville, both of Pennsylvania.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Elvin Springer, whom she married February 14, 1953 and who died October 18, 2010; and brother, Glenn F. Armstrong.
A memorial service will be held at Noon Friday, February 6, 2015, at First Christian Church at 1141 W. Beech St. Alliance, with Pastor Aaron Phillips officiating.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Bel-Air Care Center for the wonderful care given to Phyllis.
