Phyllis Yvonne Puhl, age 92, went home to be with the Lord on July 15, 2007, after a short illness.
Born January 19, 1915 in Pittsburgh, she moved to Alliance with her family as a child. She graduated from Alliance High School in 1933 and married Ralph M. Puhl on April 2, 1934. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Alliance.
She is survived by her four loving children: sons Ray (Carmella) Puhl and C. Russell (Judy) Puhl of Alliance, and daughters Bonnie Phillips of Stow and Bette (John) Sawicki of Mogadore, in addition to 14 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren. She made her home with daughter Bonnie until moving to Heather Knoll Nursing Home two years ago.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Martin R. and Lena (Ritzman) Battey; husband Ralph, and brother Delbert Battey.
Cremation has taken place, and a memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Sue DeHoff officiating. The family is grateful to the care provided by the nurses and aides at Heather Knoll, and to the Hospice care at Cuyahoga Falls General Hospital.
The family suggests memorial contributions to Hospice of Summa, First Christian Church of Alliance, or the charity of your choice.
