Ralph "Red" Bender age 90, of Beloit, passed away at 11:13 a.m., Wednesday, June 17, 2015, at Aultman Hospital.
He was born May 7, 1925, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Joseph and Anna (Belter) Bender.
Red was employed in computer security at General Motors retiring in 1980 after 23 years of service.
A member of the First Christian Church of Christ, he also belonged to the Elks Club and Alliance Senior Center. He was a professional musician for more than 54 years. He played accordion for more than 60 years, playing with his band "The Tune Blenders." They played at the Bavarian Festival in Frankenmuth, Michigan, from 1957 to 1990.
A veteran of the United States Navy, he was a Yeoman 3rd Class who served in World War II during the Pacific Theater.
Survivors include his wife, Jeanette Irene (Walter) Bender of Beloit, whom he married March 9, 1945; sons, Dale Bender of Euclid, David (Beth) Bender of Lubbock, Texas, and Alan Bender of Garfield Heights; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, June 28, 2015, at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home.
