Ralph Woodrow "Shorty" Williamson, age 96 of Alliance, died at 12:40 p.m. May 31, 2009 at his home.
He was born October 25, 1912 in Sistersville, W VA. to Louis Emery and Rosa May (Lightner) Williamson.
He retired from Morgans in 1968 where he was employed as a welder for 26 and a half years. He was also employed at Kent Latex in Kent, Ohio as a welder for 10 years and at Quality Farm and Fleet for five years in the maintenance dept. Ralph enjoyed woodworking. He was affliated with the Church of the Nazarene.
Survivors include son James (Lois) Williamson of Alliance; daughters Hilda (John) Myers of Alliance and Patricia (Nick) Edwards Wirth of Canton; daughter-in-law Judith Williamson of Alliance; grandchildren, Amy (Sam) Weese, Jackie (David) Shattuck, Ralph E. Williamson, Gay (Tim) Lee, Jeff (Susan) Myers, Pam (Mike) Douglas, Sandy (Steve) Engle; 14 great grandchildren; and eight great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Artie Williamson; a son Jack Williamson; two brothers; one sister; one half brother and one grandson Scott Lee Williamson.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday June 4, 2009 at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Rev. Doug Jenkins officiating. Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday and one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Fairmount Memorial Park.
