Raymond D. Detchon, age 88, of Alliance, passed away at 3:35 a.m. Thursday, January 3, 2013, at Canterbury Villa of Alliance.
He was born December 3, 1924, in Beloit, Ohio, to Ocie and Irene (Boyle) Detchon and attended the former Beloit High School.
Mr. Detchon retired from American Steel in 1981 after 11 years as a stores accountant, previously employed for 14½ years at Alliance Machine as a material estimator, and later worked doing lawn work for 20 years.
Raymond was a United States Army Veteran having served during the Asiatic Pacific Theater during World War II and the Alaska CBI Theater from 1943 to 1946.
He was a member of the First Friends Church, a charter member of the former Lexington Ruritan's, American Legion No. 166, and the Friendship Class at church and was a blood donor of 24½ gallons.
Survivors include his wife, Pauline V. (Handrich) Detchon, whom he married September 14, 1946; two daughters, Paula (Ronnie) Haigler of North Carolina and Debra (Bill) Lininger; one son, Randy (Tina) Detchon of Alliance; and sister, Ruth Ramsayer of Alliance.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Barbara; two brothers; and one sister.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 5, 2013, at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Edward Mitchell officiating. Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday prior to the service. Interment will be at Fairmount Memorial Park.
