Rev Earl M. Kelbaugh

Rev. Earl M. Kelbaugh, age 90, passed away at 5:05 p.m. Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at Davis Haven.
He was born October 12, 1924 in rural Pennsylvania near New Brighton to Albert and Edith (Goddard) Kelbaugh.
Earl graduated from Alliance High School in 1942 and Cleveland Bible College in 1946. He was a member of the Lexington Methodist Church and Alliance Friends Church.
Rev. Kelbaugh served the Friends Church in Battle Creek, Michigan; Newport News, Virginia; Jackson, Michigan; Smithfield and Bellefountain Ohio. He retired in 1989 after serving in the Wesleyan Church.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing. After his retirement he became known as "The Cane Man". His canes are in 28 states, Canada, Hong Kong, India and mainland China. Over 2500 canes went through Sam's Pharmacy and McCrea Manor in Alliance. He gave over 60 canes to sailors of The USS Achernar A.K.A. 53 and they made him and honorary crew member in 2008.
Survivors include his sons: David (Hunja Lee) of Snyder, New York and James (Shauna) of Prescott, Arizona; his sister, Martha (Lonnie) Reever; 5 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ruth Arlene (Fryhoff) Kelbaugh, whom he married August 30, 1946 and who died October 7, 2010; sister and brother-in-law, Thelma and John Stiveson; his brother and sister-in-law, Burton and Maxine (Clark) Kelbaugh.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 23, 2015 at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Pastor Rick Sams officiating. Friends may call from 7-8:30 p.m. Friday.
Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Davis Haven, 19690 W. Middletown Road, Beloit, Ohio 44609.
