Rev. Dean F. Lewis

Rev. Dean F. Lewis, age 80, of Alliance, passed away at 2:14 p.m., Wednesday, October 24, 2018, with his family by his side, at Aultman Hospital.
He was born June 6, 1938, in Youngstown, Ohio, to Donald J. and Elma (Puska) Lewis.
Dean was a graduate of Rayen High School in Youngstown and received his Bachelor Degree from Capital University and his Master's Degree from Trinity Seminary and was ordained into the ministry June 9, 1963.
Rev. Lewis served as Pastor at First Lutheran Church in Minot, North Dakota, Messiah Lutheran Church in Birmingham, Alabama and 35 years at Abiding Savior Lutheran Church in Alliance.
He was a member of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Canton and was an avid reader, writer and theologian. A very loving, caring and compassionate man, he loved spending time with his grandchildren and watching them in their sporting events and musical concerts. Rev. Lewis also enjoyed gardening, fishing and watching Mount Union football, the Cleveland Indians and the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Survivors include his wife, Trudy (Scharein) Lewis of Alliance, whom he married September 21, 1963; three daughters, Gretchen (Larry) Cox, Rebecca Lewis and Katharine (Scott) Eversdyke, all of Alliance; six grandchildren, Bethany and Alexandra Cox, and Matthew, Anna, Kara and Natalie Eversdyke; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Rev. Lewis was preceded in death by his two brothers, Donald H. and James C. Lewis.
Services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, October 27, 2018, at Abiding Savior Lutheran Church with Bishop Abraham D. Allende and Pastor Angela Storer co-officiating. Friends may call from 4 -6 p.m., Friday, October, 26, 2018 at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church. Interment will be at Fairmount Memorial Park.
