Rev. Ted F. Oswald

Rev. Ted F. Oswald, age 72, of Alliance, died at 4:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at Danbury Senior Living.
He was born December 18, 1944 in Jersey City, New Jersey to Frederick and June (Fischer) Oswald.
Ted graduated with a B.A. in History in 1966 from Susquehanna University in Selinsgrove, PA and in 1970 received his Master of Divinity from the Lutheran Seminary in Philadelphia, PA. Rev. Oswald was ordained in 1970.
In his third year of seminary, he served in the Lutheran mission field for one year with the Lord God of Sabaeoth Lutheran Church in St. Croix, USVI.
A member of Israel Lutheran Church in Paris, Ohio, Rev. Oswald served as Pastor at Bethany Lutheran Church in Ashtabula, Ohio from 1970-1974; St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Sharon Center, Ohio from 1974-1983; and St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Alliance, Ohio from 1983-1994.
Ted enjoyed gardening, books, computers and cooking.
He is survived by his wife, Cheryl (Koons) Oswald, whom he married September 4, 1966; sons, Thad Oswald of Canton, and Steffan Oswald of Louisville; granddaughter, Faylinn Oswald of Louisville, aunt, Lois Rettig of Linden, N.J., and her grandson, James Michael Rettig of Brooklyn, N.Y.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, December 16, 2017 at Abiding Savior Lutheran Church.
