Richard B. "Rich" Duro, age 47 of Alliance, died at his home at 7:10 a.m. Wednesday, February 8, 2006.
He was born Dec. 4, 1958 in Alliance, Ohio to Richard A. and Bea (Farmer) Duro and was a lifelong resident.
Rich graduated in 1977 from Alliance High School and attended Mount Union College and Kent State University Stark Campus.
He was formerly employed by Prudential Insurance Company and currently was the Office Manager at the Goris-Billiter Agency.
Rich was a member of First Christian Church, and member and chairman of the church board. He was a member of the former pulpit committee and church volleyball team, member of the building committee, member of the former program committee, member of the Genesis Sunday School Class and Christian Men's Fellowship and was a strong leader of the church.
He was also a member of the Alliance Kiwanis Club and president-elect, former member and past president of the Carnation Festival Board, Alliance Chamber of Commerce and former chairman of the Insurance Division, member of the 4th of July Fireworks Committee, former member of the United Way Board, former member of the Life Underwriters Association, and former member of the Alliance Band Boosters.
Rich received the Favazzo-Jeswald Award for outstanding service by the Carnation Festival Board in 2005. He loved fishing and camping.
Survivors include his wife, Charlene R. (McNeil) Duro, whom he married June 14, 1980; two daughters, Carolyn A. Duro, and Rachael E. Duro, both of the home; his parents, Richard A. and Bea Duro, of Alliance; brother, David A. Duro of Cleveland; sisters, Cherene K. (David) Gill of Alliance, and Diane L. (Timothy) Harlan of Alliance; brother, Kevin M. (Becky) Duro of North Canton, and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at First Christian Church with Pastor Pam Bruno officiating. Friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home. Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park.
