Richard L. "Red" Bissett, age 70, of Alliance, passed away at 11:28 a.m. Saturday, January 9, 2010 at Alliance Community Hospital.
He was born, August 10, 1939, in Sebring, Ohio, to John II and Virginia (Wiles) Bissett.
Richard was employed as a diesel mechanic for Williamson GMC, K & D Trucking and Glenns Auto in Beloit. He also was a truck driver for Kulka Steel and Broadway Iron & Metal until retiring in 2002.
"Red" loved his God, Jehovah, and was a member of the East Congregation in Alliance.
He loved his wife of 47 years, Bonnie, whom he married July 21, 1962 in Winchester, Virginia, and loved spending time with his family and his dog, Max-A-Million. He enjoyed taking care of his home, gardening, and working in his yard. "Red" also appreciated his many friends and enjoyed playing country music on his guitar.
Survivors include his wife, Bonnie (Grant) Bissett of Alliance; his two sons, Lee Bissett of Palm Harbour, Fla. and Russell L. Bissett of the home; one brother, John (Betty) Bissett of Alliance; two sisters, Donna (Junior) Carl of Louisville and Helen Louise Bissett of Alliance; his favorite brother-in-law, Robert L. Grant of Sebring; and many nieces and nephews, whom he adored.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Lorin and Ardella (Manypenny) Grant.
A Memorial Service will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Mr. Charles Milner officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
