Richard M. "Dick" Bodo, age 74, of Alliance, died at 11:42 p.m. Monday, March 31, 2008 at Cleveland Clinic.
He was born in Alliance, Ohio, June 11, 1933, to Michael and Mary (Bilcze) Bodo and was a lifelong resident.
Richard was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church. He was an Alliance High School graduate and also from Mt Union College in 1955. He began his employment with the former Eynon Guthrie Insurance Agency and later purchased the agency in 1993 and renamed it the Bodo Agency. He retired in 2006. He was past president of the Alliance Jaycees, BPOE #467, Conrad Masonic Lodge #271 F & AM, formerly active in the Carnation City Players and former chairman of the United Way Fund Drive.
He loved and enjoyed his family, bowling, sports, and gardening at his home.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara (Reisch) Bodo; daughter, Kimberly Ackerman of Alliance, two grandchildren, Dustin M. Ackerman and Jessica M. Ackerman of Alliance; one niece, Christy Higley of Bay City, Michigan and one nephew, Darren Brown of Detroit, Michigan; one aunt, Goldie Mainwaring of Alliance and two 1st cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Mary Ann Brown.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, April 4, 2008 at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home. Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Interment will be at Fairmount Memorial Park.
