Richard D. Bretean

Richard D. Bretean, age 70, of Alliance, passed away at 8:05 p.m. Saturday, September 7, 2019 at his home with his family by his side.

He was born November 4, 1948 in Alliance, Ohio to August and Mary (Fogoroch) Bretean.

A 1966 graduate of Alliance High School, Rick retired from Shearer’s Foods.

Rick was a member of St. Nicholas Romanian Orthodox Church.

He was a U.S. Army Vietnam Veteran, and was a life member of the Alliance Elks BPOE #467, life member and Quartermaster of the VFW and member of the American Legion.

He will be loved and missed by his family, including his wife, Jackie (Stahl) Bretean, who he married March 10, 1977; sons, Cary (Danielle) Murphy of Alliance, and Sean (Vinnet) Murphy, of Tampa, Florida; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Rick’s family would like to thank Alliance Hospice for their kindness and compassion.

Services will be held at Noon Saturday, September 14, 2019 at St. Nicholas Romanian Orthodox Church with Rev. Fr. John Nemes officiating.

Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Friday at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home.

An Elks Service will be held at 6 p.m. Friday followed by a Saracusta Service at 6:30 p.m.

Interment will be at Alliance City Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the donor’s choice of charity.
