Richard W. Burton Sr.
Richard Wayne Burton Sr., age 83, passed away May 14, 2004.
He was born August 6, 1920 in Clarion, Pennsylvania to O. Wayne & Iva (Bigley) Burton and lived in the area since 1986.
Mr. Burton attended Clarion High School and retired from the Battenfeld Grease & Oil Corp. of N. Tonawanda, NY where he was a grease maker.
He was a member of the Pine Lake Christian Church, Washington Ruritans, Alliance Senior Citizens Center and was a past member of Electric City Lodge # 663, a past member of I.O.O.F. of North Tonawanda, NY, and a past member of the Alliance Men's Garden Club. Survivors include two sons; Richard W. (Debbie) Burton Jr., of Minerva, Danny D. (Faye) Burton of Midland Georgia, four grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, a stepson Fred Fortunato of Roswell, Georgia and a brother Ralph Burton of Wesleyville, Pennsylvania. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers James Dean & Kenneth Robert, two sisters Alverda & Wilma, and his first wife Mary Louise in 1998.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Pastor Vernon Russell officiating. Friends may call at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Tuesday. Interment will be at Salem Greenlawn Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Washington Ruritans.
