Richard C. Halverstadt, age 82, of Hartville, died at 9:42 p.m. Friday, July 6, 2007 at the Wade Park Veteran's Hospital in Cleveland.
He was born Dec. 3, 1924 in Salem, Ohio to Orren M. and Barbara (Detwiller) Halverstadt and lived in the Hartville area since 1948.
A graduate of Salem High School, Mr. Halverstadt worked at McCaskey's Register prior to being employed at Goodyear Aerospace where he worked building blimps until retiring in 1987.
He was a member of The Chapel in Marlboro and was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during WWII.
Survivors include his wife, Bernice C. (Sweitzer) Halverstadt, whom he married June 27, 1948; three sons, Donald R. (Debbie) Halverstadt of Canton, David W. (Linda) Halverstadt of Alliance, and Randy L. (Julie) Halverstadt of Dallas, Ga; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one brother, Robert Halverstadt of Corona, Ca.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Pastor Joel Cochran officiating. Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday. Interment will be at Marlboro Cemetery.
