Richard Eberling

February 5, 1940 — June 21, 2007

Richard E. "Dick" Eberling, age 67, of Alliance, died at 9:00 p.m. Thursday, June 21, 2007 at Mercy Medical Center.
He was born Feb. 5, 1940 in Richmond, Va. to Charles H. and Glenna M. (Riley) Eberling and resided in Alliance most of his life.
Richard retired from Central-Allied Asphalt & Paving Co. in Canton, December of 2003, and was formerly employed by Marlboro Sand & Gravel which was family owned, Mackle Bros. in Deltona, Fla, Paul Kintz Construction and Ray Butler Construction in Alliance, Williamson Asphalt and J.A. Dempsey Construction in Canton. Richard attended Bolton, Sawburg and Marlboro Schools and was a member of the Laborer's Union #1015 of Canton and previously Ohio Operators #18 of Akron. He enjoyed hunting and running his bobcat. He always loved his work.
Survivors include his wife, Betty J. Peterson-Oliver Eberling, whom he married July 1, 1960 at Bolton Methodist in Alliance. Reverend Ashburn presided at their ceremony. He is also survived by his three sons, Terry M. Eberling of the home, Thomas L. Eberling of Alliance and Timothy E. (Jana) Eberling of Naples, Fla.; grandchildren, Sophia Marie Eberling and Dylan Michael Eberling both of Naples, Fla., Kayla Dawn Stevens of Atwater; two brothers, William L. Eberling of Canton and Albert Joseph (Lucille) Eberling of N. Benton; and two sisters, Marjorie Louise Crick of Damascus, Mary Edna (Arnold) Bryant of Alliance and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, twins, Deborah Lynn and Michael Lynn Eberling (1961); brothers, Charles Warren Eberling (1963), Lloyd "Sam" Eberling (2007) and sister Gladys Carol Eberling (1934); and brother-in-law, Ronnie Crick.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Pastor James White of Fellowship Baptist Church officiating. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Interment will be at Marlboro Cemetery.
