Richard F. "Dick" Wiggers, age 94, of Sebring, formerly of Salem, died at 10:20 a.m. Monday, August 1, 2011, at Bel-Air Care Center.
He was born June 28, 1917, at Guilford Lake, Ohio, to Pete and Vera (Patterson) Wiggers.
Dick was a 1935 graduate of Salem High School. He formerly owned Wiggers Texaco in Salem and was parts manager at Zimmerman's Dealership. He liked NASCAR and country music, played basketball in high school, and followed local high school sports teams.
Survivors include his children, Karen Taylor of Alliance, Rick (Nancy) Wiggers of Mantua and Donna (Rick) Young of Green; 14 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mary Lou Jackson of Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Doris Ann (Freshley) Wiggers, whom he married December 25, 1943; daughter, Carol Cardinal; two infant granddaughters; brother-in-law, Bud Freshley; and son-in-law Tom Taylor.
Services will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, August 4, 2011 at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Reitinger officiating. Visitation will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. prior to the service. Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park.
