Richard Auld Jones, age 98, of Sebring, formerly of Alliance, passed away at 3:44 p.m., Sunday, February 4, 2018, at Crandall Medical Center.
Dick was born May 21, 1919, in Alliance, Ohio, to William R. and Jessie (Auld) Jones.
A graduate of Alliance High School, Dick graduated in 1942 from Mount Union College, and attended Ohio State University.
He was the former owner of Alliance Builders Supply until his retirement on May 1, 1992.
A member of First United Presbyterian Church, Dick was past-president of Alliance Kiwanis Club, past-president of the Alliance Country Club, past vice-president of Buckeye Council/Boy Scouts of American, recipient of their Silver Beaver Award, having served on various camping committees, and was very involved with Seven Ranges Scout Reservation.
He was also past-president of Masonic Lodge No 271 of Alliance, a 32E� Mason, Ancient Scottish Rite-Valley of Canton, member of Tadmor Temple, Sigma Nu Fraternity, Salvation Army board of directors, Questers, Alliance Duplicate Club, and active with United Way of Alliance.
Dick attended all but one of MLB's stadiums in the United States with his son and nephew. Over the years, Dick donated 15 gallons of blood through the American Red Cross. An active community member at Copeland Oaks, Dick also enjoyed playing bridge and golf.
Survivors include his son, Dr. William A. Jones (Bobbi) of Boise, Idaho; son, Bruce R. Jones (Nancy) of St. Charles, Illinois; and daughter, Barbara Hamlin of Indianapolis, Indiana; eight grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.
Dick and Ruth Jones married May 1, 1943 and shared 74 years of marriage. He passed away less than 48 hours after his wife, Ruth.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; brother, Robert W. Jones; and sister, Isabel Howell.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday May 5, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. in the Bennett Chapel at Copeland Oaks.
