Richard G. Mergenthaler, age 83, of Columbus, formerly of Alliance, died Sunday morning, April 20, 2008 at his home.
He was born November 13, 1924 in Alliance Ohio to Earl and Mabel (Myers) Mergenthaler.
Richard graduated from Alliance High School and was a Tool & Die Maker at Alliance Steel Products until his retirement in 1992. He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church and a member of BPOE # 467.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran having served during WWII.
Survivors include his sons, Jeffrey Mergenthaler of St Petersburg, FL and Scott (Sheri) Mergenthaler of Columbus; two granddaughters, Tara and Amy Mergenthaler; one grandson, Jay Mergenthaler; two sisters, Marlene (Earl) Haines of Marlboro and Miriam Marauski of Alliance; and one brother, Jerry (Ann) Mergenthaler of Havana FL.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Betty Jane (Haines) Mergenthaler whom he married July 1, 1951, his grandson, Kyle and three brothers and three sisters.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 25, 2008 at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Thursday and one hour prior to the service on Friday at the funeral home. Interment will be at Fairmount Memorial Park.
