Richard Montgomery

Richard E. Montgomery, age 83, of Alliance, passed away at 11:40 a.m., Wednesday, March 1, 2017, at Brookdale Assisted Living. He was born November 26, 1933, in Alliance, to Howard and Alice (Kirkbride) Montgomery and had been a lifelong resident of the Alliance area. Richard was a 1951 graduate of Marlboro High School. After serving in the United States Army, he owned and operated his own dairy farm since 1956. A member of Science Hill Community Church, he was also an avid Ohio State Buckeyes fan and an avid animal lover, especially his Holstein Dairy cows. His passion was dairy farming and he cared for the animals like family. He is survived by his wife, Betty Baker, whom he married October 8, 1978; children from his first marriage, Abbey Romaine and Duane Montgomery; step-children, Richard Baker, Rodney Baker, Robert Baker and Raymond Baker; and grandchildren, Karina, Brandon and Jordan. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Judy Boldon; and stepson, Randy Baker. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 6, 2017, at Science Hill Community Church with Pastor Jon Truax officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service.
