Richard Curtis Morrow, age 80 of Homeworth, passed away Sunday morning at 12:20 a.m. Oct. 19, 2008 in the comfort of his home after a month long illness.
Richard was born March 8, 1928 in Mercy Hospital of Canton to Samuel Freeman Morrow and Lela Maud (McConnell) Morrow. He was raised in Carrollton and moved to the family farm in Mechanicstown (Carroll Hollow) as a child. He attended Mechanicstown School and Carrollton High School. He moved to Alliance in 1957 and later to Homeworth in 1969.
He served in the U.S. Army during the occupation of Japan at the end of World War II, and was discharged in Aug. 1947. Afterward he drove truck, and worked at American Switch, Bonney Tool and Forge and finally at Alliance Manufacturing, where he retired in 1989.
In 1986 he established Morrows Corner Gulf (now Morrows Service Inc.) with his three sons; where it expanded into an Auto Parts Store and Automotive Service Center. In his retirement years, he was a parts runner for the family business and enjoyed being with his family and collecting Marx and Lionel Model Trains.
He was also the former President of the West Union Cemetery Association for more than 20 years, and was a member of Sons of the American Revolution.
He was the proud father of his children Jacquelyn Morrow (Lynn Frank) of Alliance, Susan (Luis) Garcia of Charleston, SC, Timothy (Kim) Morrow of Homeworth, Barbara (Dave) Himmel of Charleston, SC, James (Katte) Morrow of Homeworth, Donald (Verna) Morrow of Homeworth, and Rebecca (Jim) Cody of Sebring; 17 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and his former wife, Patricia (Maher) Morrow of Alliance.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one son, Daniel Richard Morrow, and two brothers, Lorin and Wm. Orlon Morrow.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2008 at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home. Friends may call from 6-9 p.m. Tuesday. Cremation will follow the service, with interment held at a later date at West Union Cemetery in Fox Twp., Carroll County.
