Richard David Quillman, age 84, of Alliance, died at 10:16 p.m. Tuesday, January 8, 2013, at his home.
He was born October 14, 1928, in Waynesburg, Ohio, to Harry E. and Gail (Viles) Quillman and has lived in Alliance since 1929.
Richard retired from Marlington Schools in February of 1994, after 30 years of service, and was owner of Perma Industries and P&L Pallet in Alliance.
A member of the Bolton United Methodist Church, Richard was also a member of the BPOE Elks Lodge No. 467, Conrad Masonic Lodge No. 271, 32nd Degree Mason and Valley of Canton Scottish Rite.
Survivors include his two daughters, Shelley (Guy) Aumend and Sheri (Ralph) Freeman, both of Alliance; two sisters, Janet Ganslein and Shirley (Dolly) Gehret, both of Alliance; five grandchildren, Jaemi (John) Phelan of North Carolina, Joe Scheible, Danielle (Jason) Steer, Brooke (Russell) Heeter and Scott Reiter, all of Alliance; and eight great-grandchildren.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lillian F. Quillman, whom he married July 3, 1953 and who died March 12, 2012; daughter, Debra Rae Quillman; three brothers, Donald, Harry and John "Jack" Quillman and three sisters, Helen Polly Kerr, Barbara Ross and Doris Keiser.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, January 11, 2013, at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. David Bloor officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Entombment will be at Highland Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Crippled Children's Hospital, 3229 Burnett Ave., Cincinnati, OH 45229.
