Richard Alan Samoila, age 71, of Canton, passed away at 5:57 p.m., Tuesday, October 14, 2014, at the Cleveland Clinic.
He was born September 11, 1943, in Newark, Ohio to Raymond J. and Mary C. (Cristia) Samoila
Richard had been employed as a jeweler, car salesman and builder but his passion was buying, restoring and selling antique boats.
He was a member of the Goodyear Yacht Club and supported the Transplant Recipients International Organization.
Survivors include the love of his life, Kim Gednetz of Canton; his brother, Raymond L. (Ellen) Samoila of Hartville; his adopted family, Steve (Becky) Dendrinos of Tampa, Fl.; three nieces, Lisa M. Zona, Kathy L. (Dean) Lipster and Michelle R. (Doug) Fliger; three great-nieces, Lindsey and Lexy Lipster and Kasey Fliger and one great-nephew, Jake Fliger.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Services will be held at Noon, Saturday, October 18, 2014, at St. George Romanian Orthodox Church, 144 30th Street NW, Canton, Ohio with the Very Rev. Fr. Pantelimon Stanciu officiating. Friends may call from 11 a.m. to Noon prior to the service. Interment will be at North Lawn Cemetery in Canton.
