Richard Saunier

Richard E. Saunier, age 85, of Alliance, died at 5:25 a.m. Tuesday, July 22, 2008, at Roselawn Terrace.
He was born January 23, 1923, in Alliance to George and Dora (Grewe) Saunier.
Mr. Saunier graduated from Alliance High School. He retired as the Chief Engineer at Transue and Williams Company where he served over 30 years. Richard also was formerly employed at his family's business, Saunier's Pies in Alliance.
He was a U.S. Navy Air Corp Veteran having served in WWII as an Aviation Cadet.
Richard enjoyed swimming at the YMCA and flying.
Survivors include his wife, Thelma (Pauli) Saunier of Alliance, OH whom he married August 17, 1946; a daughter, Bonnie (Thomas) Linerode of Alliance, OH; a son, Steven (Heidi) Saunier of Centerburg, OH; and 3 grandchildren, Seth Linerode and Ashley and Stephen Saunier. Also surviving are his brother Donald (Norma) Saunier of Alliance, OH and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one grandchild, Whitney Saunier; and one brother, George Saunier.
Services will be held 1:30 p.m. Friday, July 25, 2008, at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Pastor Jon Truax of Science Hill Community Church officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service.
Interment will be at Marlboro Cemetery.
