Richard E. Stackhouse, age 75, of Alliance, passed away at 4:20 p.m., Sunday, September 7, 2014, at Alliance Community Hospital.
He was born March 23, 1939, in Atwater, Ohio, to Earl and Ruth Ann (Ludlum) Stackhouse. He had lived in California for ten years.
Richard was employed with Stark County Commissioners for thirty years.
He attended Vine Street United Methodist Church and did a great deal of volunteer work there. He was active with the Alliance Senior Center and Primetime Seniors Group in Canton. He and Irene were avid travelers.
He is survived by his wife, Irene (Scott) Stackhouse, whom he married August 8, 1988; three children who live on the West Coast; a sister in Idaho; sister-in-law, Marie Shanks of Alliance; brother-in-law, Tom (Bonny) Scott of Cuyahoga Falls; and brother-in-law, Gary (Jadzia) Baylor of Florida.
Richard was preceded in death by an infant daughter; a sister; and a sister-in-law.
A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m., Tuesday, September 16, 2014, at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Dr. David W. Bloor officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service. Interment will be held at a later date at Highland Memorial Park.
