Richard Vrzak, age 92, of Cuyahoga Falls, passed away at 7:18 p.m. Thursday, March 24, 2011, at his home.
He was born March 16, 1919, in Chicago, Illinois, to John and Rose (Kresek) Vrzak.
Richard was a member of Regina Coeli Catholic Church, and employed as plant manager with Sperry Electronics in Phoenix, Arizona. He was a Scout Master with the Boy Scouts of America for 20 years.
A United States Army World War II Veteran, Richard served as a Staff Sargent in the 1st Army in Europe. He was awarded a Purple Heart, Silver Star and three Bronze Stars, and received a Presidential Citation, European Badge and an Oak Leaf Cluster.
Survivors include his wife, Bernice (Davis) Vrzak, whom he married January 27, 1989; son, Jerry (Kathy) Vrzak of Eugene, Ore.; stepdaughter, Betty (Patrick) Papania of Tallmadge, Oh.; two stepsons, Walter (Amy) Davis of Lebanon, Oh. and James (Nancy) Davis of Lewis Center, Oh.; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jean (Seever) Vrzak; and a stepson, Thomas Davis.
A private service will be held at a later date. Interment will be held at Green Acres Cemetery in Scottsdale, Arizona.
