Richard Wesley Barnard, age 73 of Alliance died at 3:45 a.m. Sunday Feb. 12, 2006 at Alliance Community Hospital. He was born November 6, 1932 in Wooster, Ohio to John and Ruth (Repp) Barnard.
Mr. Barnard graduated from Alliance High School in 1951 and was employed by Morgan Engineering as a Draftsman for 32 years until his retirement.
Richard was a member of Beechwood United Methodist Church and a volunteer for Beechwood Playground for 34 years. He was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, American Legion Post 166 of Alliance and enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking and crossword puzzles. He was also a U.S. Army Veteran serving during the Korean War.
Survivors include one daughter, Suzette Lynn (Gerald) Hoover of Alliance; three grandchildren, Andrew (Deborah) Hoover, Kathrine Hoover and Benjamin Hoover; two brothers, Gerald Barnard of Champion, OH and Nelson Barnard of Cortland, OH.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Beverly Barnard whom he married Feb. 14, 1954 and who died Aug. 15, 2005; two brothers, Byron and Glenn Barnard, and one sister, Hilda Morrison.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 15, 2006 at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Pastor Joe Peters officiating. Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Interment will be at Fairmount Memorial Park.
