Richard L. Weast, age 80, of Alliance, passed away at 2 p.m., Tuesday, May 20, 2014, at Select Specialty Hospitals in Akron.
He was born November 5, 1933, in Marlboro, Ohio, to William Earl and Audrey Elanor (Fox) Weast and lived most of his life in the Marlboro area. He was a member of the Marlboro Christian Church where he was baptized June 8, 1969.
Richard attended Mount Union College. He served in the United States Navy on the U.S.S. Worchester from January 10, 1955 through January 16, 1957.
He was employed at Morgan Engineering and the Ford Motor Company.
Richard's hobby was being a mini farmer because of his love of purple martins and farm animals. He was very supportive and generous with his unconditional love for his family.
Survivors include his wife, Wanda Eulene (Middleton) Weast whom he married January 29, 1955; children, Richard Lee Weast Jr. and Tamera Jean (Weast) Walls; grandchildren, Tanae Lynn (J.C.) Walls and Derek Raymond Lee (Whitney) Weast; great-grandchildren, Jason Robert Lee Weast, Alecia Lyn Weast, Bridgette Elizabeth Weast, Sullivan James Clark, Shea Alexavier Sestina; sister, Janet Carol (Roger) Summers; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two infant children.
Services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, May 23, 2014 at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Edward J. Harnish, minister, officiating. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday (tonight). Interment will be at Marlboro Cemetery.
