Richard C. Wilson, age 90 , of Alliance, died at 8:15 a.m. Tuesday, May 7, 2013, at Alliance Community Hospital.
He was born October 31, 1922, in Salem, to Marion R. and Elsie M. (Speidel) Wilson.
A 1940 graduate of Augusta High School , Dick also attended Bliss Business College receiving a certificate in accounting.
He served in the U. S. Navy during World War II, doing his term on the USS Octans. The group of men received a Battle Star for their participation in the major battle Leyte in 1944.
Upon his return home, he worked for the Veterans Administration in Columbus, then became co-owner of Feed-Mill and Elevator in Wadsworth, Ohio. He then worked from 1950 to 1957 at GM Cadillac tank plant in Berea, which now houses the IX Center.
In May of 1957, he moved to California and excepted a position in management at the Hughes Aircraft Corporation. During his 32 years of employment there, he served in various management positions and retired as the Manager of Corporate Accounting on his 67th birthday in 1989.
Dick loved playing bridge and was a life member. He also loved baking cookies and giving them to all he came in contact with.
He was of the Christian faith and a member of the First Christian Church in Alliance.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Wilson; two sons, David (Mary) Wilson and Robert (Diane) Wilson; one granddaughter, Susan Broome; two great-grandchildren, A.J. and Sophie; three brothers, Russell (Margaret) Wilson, Tom (Bernie) Wilson and Donald (Phylis) Wilson; two sisters, Jenny (Gary) Lanning and Dorothy (Norman) Zimmerman; step-children, Tony (Diana) Kindler, Tim (Desiree) Willett, Darrell (Annette) Martin, Steve (Janet) Yoder and David (Cathy) Heiron and many step grand and great-grand children.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Maxine (Lester) Hawkins, Aneice (Homer) Messer and Ruth (Homer) Stryffler.
Services will be held Friday, May 10, 2013 at Noon at First Christian Church, 1141 E. Beech Street, Alliance, Ohio with Pastor Pam Bruno officiating. Family to receive friends 10 a.m. to noon at the church. Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park.
