Rita S. Hamilton, age 85 of Alliance, died at 3:50 a.m. March 27, 2006 at Copeland Oaks.
She was born Aug. 8, 1920 in North Canton, Ohio to Edward and Hilda (Bauman) Schneider and lived in the Alliance area since 1936.
Mrs. Hamilton graduated in 1938 from Alliance High School, attended Miami University and was a member of Regina Coeli Catholic Church, and sang in the choir.
She was also a member of the Carnation City Players, Town and Country Garden Club, and founding member of the Readers Theatre at Copeland Oaks.
Mrs. Hamilton was formerly a member of Welkins Club, and active with the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts at Parkway School.
Survivors include sons, Richard Price Hamilton Jr. of Whittier, California, David Rodgers Hamilton of New York City, New York, Stephen Paul (Emma) Hamilton of Sag Harbor, New York, and Christopher Edward Hamilton of Lynchburg, Virginia; two daughters, Susan Anita (Dr. Dennis) Clancy of Kinnelon, New Jersey, and Amy Elizabeth (John) Nezbeth of Minerva, Ohio; brother, Gerald L. (Betty) Schneider of Canton, Ohio; and six grandchildren, Austin Hamilton, Matthew Nezbeth, Gabriel Hamilton, Lucas Nezbeth, Sam Hamilton and Hope Hamilton.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Richard Price Hamilton, whom she married in 1945, and who died in 1988, and one brother, Edward P. Schneider.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Ann's Catholic Church with Fr. Thomas Dyer officiating. Friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Thursday at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home.
