Robert W. Brown age 71 of Beloit, died at 11:58 pm. January 2, 2004 at Alliance Community Hospital.
He was born in Irondale, Ohio to Clarence "Bus" and Hannah (Johnson) Brown on May 22, 1932. He was a graduate of Irondale High School and attended Eastern Kentucky University on a baseball scholarship, and was a four-year starter, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in education. Mr. Brown received his master's degree from the University of Akron.
His lifetime employment was dedicated to education, teaching and coaching. He was first employed at Dayton Northmont and then Alliance High School. Mr. Brown retired as principal from West Branch High School in Beloit in 1987. He was active in the Alliance Rotary Club, serving as the chairman of the annual antique auction for more than 15 years.
His retirement years were devoted to his love of antiques, hunting and fishing, his beloved wife, children, grandchildren, and many friends.
Mr. Brown was a member of Union Avenue United Methodist Church, where he served as chairperson of the Trustees.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Donna (Sivard) Brown, his son and daughter-in-law Lt. Col. Rob Brown of Springfield, Virginia, and Major Anne C. Brown of El Paso, Texas, his daughter and son-in-law, Julie and David Storrer of Wauseon, Ohio, grandchildren Kyle Storrer and Hannah Storrer, and his beloved dogs, Arrow, Jordan and Bailey.
Mr. Brown was preceded in death by his parents and his stepmother Marge (Kontinier) Brown.
Memorial Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday January 7 at Union Avenue United Methodist Church, with Rev. Gordon Ruggles officiating. The family will be present two hours before the service.
