Robert M. Courtney, age 90, of Limaville, passed away at 4:50 a.m. Thursday, January 7, 2010 at Alliance Community Hospital.
He was born January 2, 1920 in Avon Lake, Ohio to Herbert and Emma (Sanderson) Courtney. A graduate of Sebring High School, Robert retired from Alliance Manufacturing.
Robert was a United States Army Veteran having served in World War II as a tank commander. He was an old car enthusiast.
Survivors include his step-son, David Wasson; a brother, Floren Courtney; grandchildren, Dan (Michele) Wasson, all of Limaville and Brenda (Bill) Showers of Alliance; three great-granddaughters, Sophia and Jenna Wasson and Kelsey Showers; and many nieces and nephews.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Coletta A. (Fox) Courtney, whom he married February 8, 1947 and who died January 11, 2002; and three brothers, Ronald, Donald and Floyd.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Associate Pastor Dan McCurdy officiating. Friends may call from 7 - 9 p.m. Tuesday. Interment will be at New Baltimore Cemetery.
