Robert E. "Bob" Eckert age 82 of Homeworth, died at Bel Air Care Center at 10:04 p.m. March 19, 2004.
He was born September 18, 1921 in Alliance, Ohio to Harold and Zoe (Pilmer) Eckert, and was a lifelong Homeworth resident.
Mr. Eckert worked with his father at Eckert Dairy for 10 years, and owned and operated Eckert Implement (farm machinery) for 40 years until 1991.
He was a member of Middle Sandy Presbyterian Church, American Quarter Horse Association for over 30 years, and owned a World Champion Gelding, which was recently inducted into the AQHA Hall of Fame. Mr. Eckert was also past treasurer of SOSCA.
Survivors include his wife, Eleanor (Shoemaker), whom he married January 3, 1941, one daughter Elinore "Fran" Mihevic of Homeworth, four grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter.
Mr. Eckert was preceded in death by his parents, two daughters, Bobbi Arnold, in 1991, and Elodie DeJane in 1998, and one granddaughter, Shari L. DeJane, in 2003.
Services will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Pastor Tom Sawyer officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Fairmount Memorial Park.
Memorial Contributions may be made to Multiple Sclerosis Society, or Alzheimer's Disease Research.
