Robert Francis Williamson, age 88, of Alliance, died at 4:15 a.m. Wednesday, April 18, 2007 at Community Care Center.
He was born November 27, 1918, in Pittsburg, Pa. to William T. and Catherine (Sullivan) Williamson.
Robert was a 1937 graduate of Alliance High School and retired from Morgan Engineering in 1983 after working as a machinist for 43 years. He was a member of Regina Coeli Catholic Church, the American Legion, VFW and Knights of Columbus. A U. S. Navy WWII Veteran, Mr. Williamson served in the South Pacific, Iwo Jima and Okinawa, Japan. He loved gardening, hunting and spending time with his family.
He is survived by a daughter, Kathy (Richard) Brown of Alliance, and four grandchildren; Carrie (James) Povejsil of Mentor-on-the-Lake, Shawn Brown of Lakewood, Eric Brown of Chicago, and Aaron Brown of Kent.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Rosemary (Umbs) Williamson whom he married August 9, 1947 and who died in Aug. 1990, and a brother John S. Williamson.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday morning at St. Joseph Catholic Church (time pending). Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Friday at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home. Interment will be at St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery.
